In this guide
Who is it suitable for?
Marmaris is suitable for those who want the sea, yachts, a bay, walks, a resort rhythm and do not need a big city. Good for seasonal life, couples, remote work, yachting.
Districts
Center/Marina. Lively, restaurants, shops, sea, tourists, noise.
Armutalan. More residential, cheaper, further from the sea, more ordinary life.
Siteler. Hotels, beach, tourist area, seasonal.
İçmeler. More beautiful and calmer, beach, mountains, but quieter in winter.
Where to be careful
Hotel streets if you need silence. Apartments without heating. Areas where almost everything is closed in winter.
Housing
Look at humidity, heating, noise, parking, seasonality of the contract. In resort areas, it is important that the landlord actually rents for a year.
Cafe and food
Marina: restaurants, bars, evening life.
İçmeler: beach cafes, family places.
Armutalan: household lokanta, cheaper.
Clinics
For basic medicine it is ok, for serious cases – Muğla/Fethiye/Izmir. Check the availability of specialists in winter.
Little tricks
- Compare the city in July and January before moving.
- If you work online, check the Internet at your specific home.
- For permanent life, Armutalan may be more practical than the first line.
