← Back to the Turkey city atlas
This is part of the detailed Turkey city atlas for choosing where to live, relocate or spend a longer season. In Turkey, the exact neighbourhood, building, transport and registration situation matter as much as the city itself.

Who is it suitable for?
Kas and Kalkan are suitable for those who value beauty, sea, diving, silence, small towns, aesthetics, remoteness and high tolerance to logistics. This is not about the convenience of a metropolis.
Kash
Kaş Center – cafes, harbor, shops, evening life, but noise and parking. Çukurbağ Peninsula – villas, views, more expensive, car. Gökçeören/Çukurbağ village – nature, quieter, remote.
Kalkan
Kalkan Center – restaurants, sea, expat environment, expensive. Kördere/İslamlar – villas, views, tranquility, car. Kalamar/Kışla – beautiful residential areas, seasonality.
Where to be careful
Houses on steep slopes without a car. Villas with expensive maintenance. Areas where restaurants close in winter. Medical distance.
Foreigners
Lots of British, Europeans, seasonal residents, digital nomads. There is a Russian-speaking environment, but not as widespread as in Antalya/Alanya.
Cafe and food
Kas: harbor, rooftop bars, breakfast spots, seafood, small coffee shops.
Kalkan: rooftop restaurants, fish, more expensive resort gastronomy.
Little tricks
- For a permanent life, a hospital and a supermarket are more important than a view.
- Check the road at night: switchbacks and parking can be tiring.
- Prices and crowds vary greatly during the season.
