← Back to the Turkey city atlas
This is part of the detailed Turkey city atlas for choosing where to live, relocate or spend a longer season. In Turkey, the exact neighbourhood, building, transport and registration situation matter as much as the city itself.
Who is it suitable for?
Cappadocia is suitable for those who are involved in tourism, hotels, excursions, photography, creativity or want a small, unusual life. For a general move without a tourism job, this is a niche choice.
Districts
Nevşehir. The most practical city: shops, hospitals, ordinary life.
Goreme. The tourist heart, beautiful, expensive, noisy in season, many hotels.
Ürgüp. A more relaxed and residential option, beautiful, there are restaurants and hotels.
Uçhisar. Views, boutique hotels, beautiful, more expensive, less than normal life.
Where to be careful
Cave/rock houses require an understanding of humidity and heating. It’s cold in winter. The work is almost all around tourism. Limited without a car.
Cafe and food
Göreme: tourist cafes, rooftop, breakfasts.
Ürgüp: restaurants, wine places, quieter.
Nevşehir: household food, lokanta.
Little tricks
- Don’t rent an “atmospheric cave house” without checking the humidity and heating.
- Winter is real, this is not a Mediterranean resort.
- Ürgüp/Nevşehir is better for life, Göreme/Uçhisar is better for beautiful photos.
